in my opinion, J.K. Rowling is an idiot

Why did J.K. Rowling have to go and do
this????
I'm not against gay people or anything like that, but this is completely unnecessary. There is no reason at all that this should have been addressed. She has created controversy for the heck of it. I can't imagine that even 1/4 of Harry Potter fans sat in their rooms reading and thinking, "I wonder if Dumbledore is gay?" My answer is no, they probably didn't.
In my opinion, if this was an issue that directly affected the story then that's one thing, but it's not. I think if she was going to let everyone know his sexual orientation, she should have done so when she introduced the character. Even then, it has no bearing on the story. So why bring it up, except to create more controversy?
p.s. Also, on a personal note, it's hard enough to get conservatives, like my mom's side of the family, to watch or learn about Harry Potter. Now, once they find this out it's going to be an impossible task. J.K., you possibly just lost a potential future sale. Wait, what do you care? You're probably swimming in gold in you're giant safe like Uncle Scrooge and you probably don't care.
Here's another example of a wealthy creator of something great that just can't leave their already perfect work alone.
Something I noticed...

Ok, I've realized something. There are a quite a few British people playing the (American) main characters on tv this season. I'm sure there might be more, but these are just the ones I realized.
- Anna Friel, Chuck on Pushing Daisies: British
- Michelle Ryan, Jamie Somers on Bionic Woman:British
- Kevin McKidd- Dan Vassar on Journeyman: British
- Damian Lewis- Charlie Crews on Life: British
- Hugh Laurie, House on House: British
Across the Universe
Monday, October 15, 2007
I saw Across the Universe last night. It's not bad, but it's not amazing like I was kind of hoping deep down. I think one of its problems is that it has too much music. Yes, I know its a musical. To me, it seems that the producers wrote a story with Beatles themed characters and then they said, "How many different songs can we possibly fit into each situation/plot point?" I felt that they could have made the movie just as effective and possibly even better if it had half of the musical numbers.
Here's where things change for me though. Each individual musical number on its own is great and visually wonderful. The music sounds amazing. Universe has a great soundtrack that any Beatles' fan will love. I'm listening to it now as I type this up. I love the fact that the soundtrack has a ton of different songs on it. I loved each individual musical number in the movie, but it just didn't work all together in the movie. It was too much in movie form. I could tell that a lot of people in the theatre we're getting restless as the movie went on.
I'm going by the soundtracks and what I remember, but Universe had about 28 individual musical numbers. Grease and Moulin Rouge each had around 15-16. So you can kind of see why I said there might just be too much music in Across the Universe as a movie.
If you appreciate the music and history of The Beatles, then go see Across the Universe. You'll like it for the music like I did.
WOW. God bless people for finding old stuff and putting it on the web

It's videos like this that make the internet so freaking great! Somewhere out there, I think the Star Wars Kid is feeling a little vindicated by this.

Japanese Race
Once again, Japanese TV comes through with flying colors. I want to know what that white powdery stuff is. I guess it could be just plain old flour. Anyways, the stuff with the stairs is great.
Thoughts on Monday night's shows
-Journeyman was amazing again tonight. Hands down, my favorite show of the night. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch it. We're only two episodes in so its not impossible to catch up. PLEASE DON'T CANCEL THIS SHOW NBC!
-Chuck made a great Lost reference tonight. He was being probed about the government knowledge in his head. Whenever he sees certain images, it triggers his mind to recall information. At one point hes just saying fact after fact and then all of a sudden one of his facts was "Oceanic flight 815 was shot down by...." and it shifted to another fact. I was cracking up when I heard him say it.
-Heroes was definitely better than last weeks in my opinion. I liked Hiro's first foray into acting like a superhero, even though it did take place in 1600's Japan. I like shaved head Peter. He looks more badass and less whiny. Hopefully when he gets his memory back, he won't go back into whiny mode. I'm not sure where they're going with the whole Mexican twins storyline. What the heck is her power?! Does she have magic mascara eyes that get into other peoples eyes and then it burns their eyes out and they die? If you don't know what I'm talking about then I'm sorry, but her power looks like exactly what I described.
Prison Break- It was on the level of the last two episodes. No better, no worse.
I don't know if I will post blogs like this or not often, but there are some great shows on tv this year that need to stay afloat and survive. Hopefully, I can inspire some of you to set your vcrs/dvd recorders/dvrs and enjoy. I'm a sucker for great storytelling and shows that are unique.
The Red Sox need dancing lessons
Monday, October 01, 2007
I'm happy that the Boston Red Sox won their division and are headed to the MLB playoffs. But I think that they need to learn how to celebrate correctly. For the record, this is not how its done...
Starring Jonathan Papelbon (in a tshirt and boxer briefs on the field) and some of the other Red Sox. I'm going to say that he lost a bet or something.
Finishing the Game
I hope this comes to Nashville because it looks hilarious!
